During the height of COVID-19, we limited non-essential surgical procedures, certain clinic visits and other patient care services to preserve supplies and equipment and ensure the ability to treat the sickest patients during the pandemic. Thanks in part to your understanding, we’ve been able to provide the best care possible for COVID patients. But we never stopped safely seeing those with other critical health care needs like heart attacks, or car accidents.
Now, with enhanced safety protocols in place for every level of care, we’re ready to help you reclaim the health you need to live the way you want. Our hospitals, outpatient centers, clinics and practices will look a bit different due to our many enhanced safety measures in place, but our dedication to you and your safe, and effective care, is still the same.
Let us show you how we are keeping you safe and how you can start scheduling your needed appointments now.
HOW we are keeping you safe NOW
Nothing is more important to us than the safety of our patients, staff and visitors. Penn State Health has implemented numerous enhanced safety measures and accommodations, including:
Screening all patients and visitors for symptoms of and possible exposure to COVID-19
Limiting the number of visitors that may accompany a patient, allowing one family/support person per patient per day
Requiring masks to be worn by all patients, visitors and staff
Practicing social distancing in all areas
Streamlining registration, triage, check-in and check-out
From our roots in innovation, to today’s medical frontlines, Penn State Health has a rich history of academic and medical excellence. Providing high-level, patient-focused medical care throughout central Pennsylvania has been our legacy, and something we continue to focus on daily. We consistently receive top marks nationally for our research, care and safety. Sharing operations with Penn State College of Medicine, Penn State Health integrates the latest biomedical knowledge and technology into our patient care to provide leading-edge treatments for many diseases and conditions — including COVID-19.
At Penn State Health, we are constantly asking questions, and learning so we can provider better solutions through innovative thinking to provide the best health care possible for our community. When COVID-19 presented significant challenges to our usual way of doing business, we created solutions like working with Penn State resources to 3D printed masks and adapting clinical procedure spaces to ensure we can provide care, but safely. During uncertain times we’ve set the path, and you can trust through these next steps and beyond we will continue to find solutions for you.
You’ll find the heart of Penn State Health in our dedicated team of nurses, doctors and all of the staff who go above and beyond to care for our patients. From those who welcome patients upon their arrival to the team that provides care, this is their calling, their passion, and it shows daily. While COVID-19 has caused some necessary physical distancing from patients, their commitment and compassion continues to shine through.
